SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX COUNCIL MINUTES - JUNE 7, 2017


The Municipal Council of the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex will meet in Regular Session in the Council Chamber on June 7, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

COUNCIL PRESENT:

Mayor Vance Blackmore (Chair presiding), Deputy Mayor Marigay Wilkins, Councillors Karen Aranha, Doug Bartlett, Rick Cowell, John Kavelaars, Don McCallum and Martin Vink

STAFF PRESENT:

CAO/Clerk - Jill Bellchamber-Glazier, Facilities and Recreation Manager Steve MacDonald, Public Works Manager Tara Clayton, Treasurer Kristen McGill

1.CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Blackmore calls the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.

4.DEPUTATIONS AND PETITIONS

  • 1:35 p.m. – President David Bolton spoke on behalf of the Middlesex Federation of Agriculture and provided council with and update and an information package related to such things as the role of the federation, recent activities, public information and education sessions, and the work of the federation provincially and locally on behalf of farmers.  
  • 1:45 p.m. – Representatives Jane May, Doug Reycraft and Steve MacDonald presented on behalf of the Communities in Bloom with respect to the planned arboretum site behind the future Glencoe Comprehensive Library site.  
    Mr. Reycraft and Ms. May provided an overview of the project and the next steps required to fulfill the funding agreement received for the project.  It was requested that Communities in Bloom be informed about the municipal plan for site drainage.

THAT Council direct the CAO complete the used vehicle packages on behalf of the corporation for the
release and sale of the 2007 Ford F150 pick-up truck and the 2006 GMC Sierra pick-up truck, and THAT staff proceed with the sale to the highest bidder for both trucks.

THAT council convene in closed session on June 7, 2017 at 3:07 p.m. in accordance with Section 239(2) (c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality or local board, specifically the matter relates to a municipally owned property on Queen Street in Wardsville.

RISE AND REPORT

Council resumed in open session at 3:10 p.m. The Deputy Mayor reported on the matter by noting that staff have been directed to contact the owner of the property neighbouring the municipally-owned lands on Queen Street in Wardsville to advise of the land valuation and the undertake the sale transaction.
