Planning and Development
The Southwest Middlesex Building Department is responsible for ensuring all construction work in the Municipality complies with the Ontario Building Code. Our department has recently made some changes that help you to apply for permits and track your permits through an online platform called Evolta's Cloudpermit system. The Cloudpermit system allows you to apply for your permit and see the status of your permit anywhere, any time. You can start an application and finish it later, you can receive email updates on the status of your permit application plus you can even request building inspections.
Click on the following link to get started on your building permit application:
Please refer to the current fees and charges
by-law for applicable building permit fees.
Inspection information will be provided with all approved permits.
Our building department is also responsible for all related inspections including those related to Property Standards. Our goal is to make sure that your investment meets the Code and provides you with a quality structure that you can enjoy without worry.
Land-use planning means managing our lands and resources. It helps each community to set goals about how it will grow and develop and to work out ways of reaching those goals while keeping important social, economic and environmental concerns in mind. It balances the interests of individual property owners with the wider interests and objectives of the whole community.
Southwest Middlesex, our planner and the County of Middlesex work together to process planning applications and manage new developments within the municipality.
Land-use planning affects almost every aspect of life in Ontario. It helps decide where our community's homes and factories should be built, where parks and schools should be located and where roads, sewers and other essential services should be provided.
