Appin Accessible Playground Equipment RFP

Southwest Middlesex issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to professional companies for the design and construction and installation of an Accessible/Inclusive Playground for Appin Park.  Council is very pleased to report that they have approved the RFP Submission provided by PARK N PLAY DESIGN (conceptual images are shown below) in the amount of $200,000 excluding HST, for the design and construction of a new Accessible/Inclusive playground for Appin Park.

This project is scheduled to start Fall of 2022.  Playground equipment will be installed near the existing pavilion and will be a wonderful asset for the community.

Parkette - Main Street Glencoe

The much used parkette in the centre of town on Glencoe's Main Street is being updated.  The stone work is being replaced with a smooth surface to aid in accessibility and a pergola is being installed to provide shade on hot sunny days.  Council has also asked staff to investigate public art installation through the mural program.

It is anticipated that a new mural would replace the mural currently located at the parkette which is in need of repair.

Olde Drive Upgrade

Olde Drive between Thames Road and Melbourne Road is getting a much needed upgrade (see images below) with a complete tear out of the existing materials.  A strong base will be installed with a new tar and chip surface to follow.  Avoid this area if you able so that the workers can complete their task safely.  For anyone living in this area, we greatly appreciate your patience while improve the driving surface.

Train Station

The Glencoe Train Station property will be closed starting early September, 2022 for extensive renovations.  The renovations include drainage around the foundation, deck replacement and garden replacement.  The upgrades will improve drainage at the facility which will help maintain the safety of the structure including the deck.  Keep watching the improvements but please avoid the construction zone.  We are all looking forward to the updates to this facility.
